There are then the largest and most expansive lawn mowers which are the sit on lawn mowers. These sit on lawn mowers are ridden and are always petrol powered, they are very like a car in how they work as they usually start with a key and need to be steered while you are riding the sit on lawn mower. These sit on lawnmowers are only suitable for very large lawns so most people will not need a sit on lawn mower, they are ideal though if you do have lots of lawns or a huge lawn to mow as it would take far too long with the smaller push lawn mowers.
There are lots of features to look out for when buying a lawn mower, the most important is the lawn mower's capacity as this dictates how much grass the lawnmower can hold and therefore how often you will have to empty the lawnmower. The capacity that you choose depends on how often you would ideally like to empty the grass but remember that the lawn mowers with larger capacities will become heavier while mowing and this may cause a problem, if you are fine with the extra weight then buy a lawn mower with a large capacity.
Some lawnmowers compact the grass that they collect so they can hold more and need to be emptied less often, this compacting feature is very useful and well worth looking for. Other useful features include a window on the lawn mower so that you can see how full of grass the lawnmower is so that you know when it needs emptying as it can be a pain having to stop mowing to check if it needs emptying. Some lawn mowers also have easy reel power cables so that they are easy to store, the reel is usually on the top of the lawnmower and you simply un-reel it before use and then reel it back up after mowing. Some lawn mowers also have folding handles so that they can save space in storage.
