The important consideration with these hard drive DVD recorders is the size of the hard drive (HDD), the HDD is measured in gigabytes and the more gigabytes the HDD has the more programmes you will be able to record. You can transfer programmes onto a blank DVD disc should you wish to keep it to save space on the HDD but you should still buy the DVD recorder that has the most space that you can afford as it can fill up very quickly. There are also other features that are worth looking for when buying a DVD recorder and they include the multi region capability, multi region DVD recorders can play DVD's from any country as standard DVD recorders will only play DVD's that are purchased in the UK (and some other European countries). DVD's are often cheaper and released sooner in other countries and can be easily purchased online so a multi region DVD recorder can be very useful, multi region DVD recorders are also just as cheap as the standard DVD recorders. Another feature worth looking for is Freeview, Freeview gives free access to digital television in the UK and having Freeview built into the DVD recorder allows you to easily record digital television programmes and also means that you can watch digital television without the need for an additional set top box. Freeview is great as it has many more channels and the picture and sound quality are much better than that of standard television.
